2021 Giddy Up Challenge Beneficiaries

Meet our 2021 Giddy Up Challenge Beneficiaries!! These organizations were specifically chosen for the work they do to preserve, protect and advocate for our outdoor places. Check them out in all their awesomeness!


LOCAL BENEFICIARIES


Wood River Trails Coalition is a trail stewardship organization working to create, maintain and sustain the Wood River Valley, Idaho trail network for all users. Be Good Foundation’s support will allow for deployment of a 90% female Ketchum Ranger District Trails Crew and the production of a “The Day in the Life of a Trail Crew Member” video. This video will be instrumental in the Coalition’s desire to push public education regarding what work and efforts are undertaken to allow visitors to the US Forest Service managed lands to enjoy and play in the spaces in our backyard. Wood River Land Trust believes that nature close to home is central to the vision we have for the Wood River Valley and our community has been working for the last 26 years to protect over 26,000 acres including 14 public preserves, providing recreational opportunities for hiking, biking and skiing; and precious habitat for elk, deer, beavers, and more. As a beneficiary of the Giddy Up Challenge, the Wood River Land Trust will ensure that the money raised will increase access to wild spaces for all members of the community as well as restoring the places that make this Valley special. Specific projects to be undertaken include: design and installation of signs, wayfinding points, maps, parking areas with trash/dog waste stations along the Hailey Greenway; installation of an ADA accessible boardwalk and wildlife viewing area at the Simons/Bauer Preserve; installing beaver dam structures on Croy Canyon; and completion of restoration efforts on the Big Wood River in the Howard Preserve.



NATIONAL BENEFICIARIES






Conservation Alliance is a coalition of 250 like-minded businesses who pool resources to fund and advocate for the protection of North America’s wild places. Since 1989, the Alliance has helped protect 73 million acres of wildlands and 3,576 river miles, remove or halt 36 dams, purchase 18 climbing areas, and designate five marine reserves. The Be Good Foundation’s support will supplement grants to be awarded to organizations supported by the Conservation Alliance and will assist with strategic advocacy efforts aimed at bringing the business voice to bear on conservation.


Public Land Solutions assists communities who are looking to invest in recreation and help them thrive by using the currency of the 21st century: recreation assets on shared public lands. Good Foundation’s support will allow Public Land Solutions to work directly with communities in transition as they rebuild their economies from unsustainable revenue sources including oil, gas, coal, and mining to quality of life via outdoor access and recreation. By assisting communities pivot their public land use by investing in recreation assets (trails, climbing areas, water access, etc.), they attract both visitors and businesses, entrepreneurs, professionals and retirees who bring prosperity through reliable revenue flows. In this way, we are directly growing the recreation economy by supporting communities where more people have more opportunities to get outside.






Outdoor Alliance protects human-powered adventures by uniting the voices of outdoor enthusiasts to conserve America’s public lands and waters and ensure they are managed in a way that embraces the responsible recreation experience. Outdoor Alliance is a coalition of national advocacy organizations that includes American Whitewater, American Canoe Association, Access Fund, International Mountain Bicycling Association, Winter Wildlands Alliance, the Mountaineers, the American Alpine Club, the Mazamas, the Colorado Mountain Club, and the Surfrider Foundation. Be Good Foundation’s support will aid the Outdoor Alliance’s staff develop and pursue innovative and equitable public land policy that ensures that all Americans have meaningful access to enjoyable, quality outdoor experiences.



INTERNATIONAL BENEFICIARY








Protect Our Winters (POW) helps passionate outdoor people protect the places and lifestyles they love from climate change. Drawing on its community of athletes, scientists, creatives, and business leaders, POW advances non-partisan policies that protect our world today and for future generations. Be Good Foundation’s support will be focused on efforts underway in Canada, France, Austria, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia, and Japan to oppose major energy extraction development, reduce methane emissions, support the expansion of the renewable energy industry, and advance electric vehicle and public transportation opportunities.
