Couldnt help but notice you were flat pedaling it for your DH clinic, is this true, or did I misread the photo? I love flat pedals, but friends are always chiding me. When I put my foot down on a stump and use it as a trajectory, I feel more one with the bike that if I had clipless.
Hey Lori
I was riding flat pedals at Crankworks, because that’s what all the cool kids do. They were Crankbros pedals that have a flat platform, but you do clip in as well. There’s just no way to have the control and the pedaling efficiency on a totally flat pedal. The big platform is there in case your foot is out and you need a quick place to land. I talked to pro downhiller, Katie Holden, about pedal choice for DH and these were her recommendation.

What’s your take on clipless vs. flat pedals?
